Pieces of Old Sky new reviews

Dear friends,

I just got back from my November tour where I had some wonderful shows with my quartet in Switzerland, Germany, Austria, Belgium and France. We recorded the two last shows for a possible release next year. Thank you to everyone who made those events a success! The quartet will be back on the road in October 2010 for a two weeks tour.

Pieces of Old Sky has received many great reviews lately all over. Please check out the press kit section for more information... Alan Young in his Lucid Culture said: "This is what free jazz ought to sound like. While there's definitely plenty of composition here, there's also an extraordinary amount of listening and the smart, thoughtful playing that good musicians do when they're all tuned into each other... This quiet, deft display of talent is nothing short of a stealth contender for one of the best jazz albums of 2009."

Thanks for visiting! Please come back soon for more news. Next year will be special...!

Here's a picture of the band, ready to go to Germany.

A Conversation, Thomas Morgan had with an old man at Tygmont in Warsaw, before one of our concert [2008-05-07 Wed 23:28]

/We're sitting at the bar and he speaks to me in Polish./

Przepraszam, nie rozumiem po polsko.  [I'm not sure about the
spelling, but this means, "Pardon me, I don't understand."]

Ah, you don't speak Polish, of course.  English?

Yes.

Very good.  It is a long path to learn Polish.  It will take you
twenty years.  Tonight are you playing the same kind of program as
last night?

Yes.

Why don't you play normal jazz with a melody?  What you play is
nothing for the listener.

I'm sorry you didn't enjoy it.

We take a risk, we come to the concert, and we expect good American
musicians, not a young fellow like you.  In three years you will
understand.  When American musicians come, they usually play good
music, standards, and there are one hundred, two hundred people here.
But you come, and there are forty or fifty.
